About Us

One of the social awareness projects that goes beyond TRT's human-centred journalism and broadcasting approach, aiming to address global humanitarian issues and develop a culture of coexistence, is the Journalism for Juniors (J4J) Project, which has been organising Digital Journalism Workshops for young people since 2017. Journalism for Juniors aims to enhance young people's storytelling skills, in addition to introducing them to the fundamentals of journalism, by teaching them written and oral storytelling, as well as video shooting and editing techniques using mobile devices such as phones and tablets. It encourages young people to improve their storytelling abilities and share their stories with the world through digital platforms.

-Our Mission
The primary goal of the Journalism for Juniors Project is to contribute to young people recognising their ability to create tangible change in the world and to use the power of digital media to establish universal human values and create a social consciousness that encompasses all global citizens.

-Our Philosophy
Embracing the philosophy that "everyone has a story, and everyone should be able to tell their story," the TRT Journalism for Juniors Project focuses on developing individual awareness to enable young individuals not only to be the subject but also the voice of news, advocating for those who cannot raise their own voices. It aims to help young people realise their potential to make concrete changes in the world.

-What Do We Do?
The Journalism for Juniors Team, consisting of volunteer and experienced journalists from TRT, provides young people in workshops with instruction on the fundamentals of journalism, as well as written and oral storytelling techniques, and video shooting and editing techniques using mobile devices such as phones and tablets. Through national and international collaborations, numerous high school students from different social groups and geographical regions, including disadvantaged individuals, have benefited from Digital Journalism Workshops held in various educational institutions both domestically and internationally.

-Instructors and Team
The Journalism for Juniors Team, which reaches out to young people enduring education in challenging conditions in countries experiencing internal conflicts such as Syria, Afghanistan, and Iraq, consists of volunteer journalists experienced in human-centred journalism and affiliated with TRT.
